Love Art. Live Art.
I am pleased to inform you about a fantastic art exhibition for children and young people, called Young Art Devon, which is a fundraising event for Cancer Research UK (Registered Charity No. 089464) organised by a group of volunteers. All money raised is donated to the charity’s Kids & Teens appeal, which exclusively funds research into children’s cancers. The competition has been launched across Devon.
This is a wonderful way to encourage children’s creative talents and is an exciting opportunity for aspiring young artists to have their work judged by well known and respected artists, exhibited in public, and of course raise money for a fantastic cause.
The theme for 2019 is Our World. The children will be asked to submit a picture based on this theme, on either A4 or A3 sized good quality paper in any medium.
To participate, we ask that each student donate £2 to Cancer Research UK. Every school that participates will be represented at the exhibition. Please refer to the website for rules and key dates at www.youngartdevon.org.uk.
The exhibition will be held at the beautiful Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey from 3rd to 5th May and will be open to the general public, with an opportunity for families and friends to attend a special private opening afternoon on the Saturday. Each picture will be available to purchase, via a silent auction, with families being given priority, so everyone will have the opportunity to own their child’s art. Any work not purchased will remain in the collection of Young Art Devon.
The winners in each age category will be chosen by our panel of judges, who in 2019 areDan Wheatley, David Norman and Becky Bettesworth. The winners will all be professionally mounted and framed.
We hope you will want to enter your child’s picture. Please tape a £2 coin on the strip below and return it to Art Department by Tuesday 15th January. The closing date for all art to be at Stover School for judging is Friday 18th January, so if you prefer to submit it yourself after the 15th you may do.
Please join us in supporting this wonderful new venture that will celebrate the artistic endeavours of our students whilst raising vital funds for a fantastic cause.
